TRUE VALUE DONATES MORE THAN $400,000 IN MERCHANDISE TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CHICAGO

October 25, 2019

Products from True Value’s Fall Reunion trade show are available for purchase at Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s ReStore

CHICAGO, October 25, 2019 – True Value Company, in partnership with its vendors, donated 15 truckloads of new merchandise to Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s ReStore, following its semi-annual Reunion trade show held at the McCormick Place earlier this month.  This donation has a retail value of over $400,000.

More than 60 volunteers from Habitat Chicago spent two days at McCormick Place collecting, sorting and packing hundreds of pallets of donated products that were showcased at True Value’s Fall Reunion trade show.

The massive donation will be used to stock Habitat Chicago’s ReStore, a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that resells furniture, home appliances, building materials and more at significantly reduced prices.

Habitat Chicago is proud to operate ReStore on the city’s North Side, in the Sauganash neighborhood (located at 6040 N. Pulaski Rd., Chicago, IL 60646). Proceeds from ReStore provide funding to Habitat Chicago to create affordable homeownership opportunities and strengthen neighborhoods in Chicago. ReStore is Habitat’s way of keeping home goods and appliances out of landfills – funneling needed funds back into the community and providing consumers with quality items at discounted prices.

“Event based partnerships like the one ReStore Chicago has with True Value Company are a great way to see and experience corporate and community efforts coming together,” said Mark Milmore, ReStore Director for Habitat Chicago. “We had over 60 volunteers – many volunteering for the first time – organizing and packing hundreds of pallets. There is an amazing sense of generosity, community, and pride when, at the end day, you have connected with others and observed the combined efforts of caring individuals and businesses.”

True Value has been an enthusiastic supporter of Habitat for Humanity for several decades. In the past three years alone, it has donated nearly $2.7 million to Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Chicago, Anaheim, Dallas, Denver, Houston and Washington D.C.

“At True Value, we are passionate about giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Susan Radde, Director of the True Value Foundation. “Thanks to the partnership and generosity of our vendors, we’re proud to once again make this significant product donation to Habitat for Humanity ReStore and help Chicago families in need get one step closer to having a decent, affordable place they can call home.”

In the days following the True Value Fall Reunion, ReStore Chicago received donated products by the truckload. ReStore Chicago accepted the final delivery on Tuesday, October 22. Products from the trade show are now available for purchase.
