Gilbert True Value Home Center: Revitalizing an 80-Year Old Store

August 23, 2018
From May 11-12, Steve Gilbert introduced the town of Leon, Iowa, to Gilbert True Value Home Center, marking the transformation of an 80-year old True Value store into a beautiful new DTV showcase. Formerly Robinson’s True Value, Gilbert True Value spans 14,000 sq. ft. and is already wowing customers with its stunning layout. This relocated and expanded facility complements his other DTV store in Osceola, Iowa, which opened in 2014.

When the former owners retired last spring, Steve bought Robinson's and moved his original Leon store there, immediately recognizing the need to enhance his retail environment. An ambitious, forward-thinking owner, he also credits his team—general manager Damon Boyd and managers Lindsey Jones and Mary Frisbee—with making his stores so successful and takes pride in how these two small-market masterpieces have revitalized both markets.

Opening weekend included a ribbon cutting and open house with visits from the local chamber of commerce and True Value retail consultant Rob Bock, the standard grand prize giveaways, and a Family Day with pony rides.

Congratulations to Steve and the Gilbert True Value Home Center team!
