District Hardware & Bike Gets Rolling in Washington D.C.

November 13, 2017
On October 13, District Hardware and Bike inaugurated a new 6,300 sq. ft. facility on The Wharf in Washington D.C. This prime spot along the water gives the relocated DTV store 3,300 additional sq. ft. to showcase its passion for cycling and home improvement with a variety of sporting goods, hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, lawn and garden and outdoor living products.

For second-generation owner Neil Conway and his son Jarrett, the move was a great way to grow their store while supporting other local businesses. The full-service bike shop also aims to be a community destination, offering running and biking classes in addition to a Velo Café serving coffee, craft beer and artisanal baked goods.

Inspired by grocery stores and other retailers with cafés, father and son saw an opportunity to encourage customers to linger and discover what District Hardware & Bike has to offer while they’re getting their bikes repaired or enjoying their morning coffee.

Since the 800 sq. ft. café opened, the Conways have seen constant foot traffic and a steady stream of guests. This hybrid business model gives customers a truly unique experience and makes the shop an exciting new addition to The Wharf. Read more about The Wharf project here.

Congratulations to the Conway family and the District Hardware & Bike team!
