Historic Charm and New Enhancements Transform Steele’s True Value

November 02, 2017
On October 27, Rich and Lori McMaster hosted a grand opening of Steele’s True Value in Cresco, Pennsylvania. The newly remodeled location represents the best of both worlds: a historic 100-year old country lumber store on the outside and a modern hardware store on the inside.

Modernizing Steele’s interior while retaining its historical exterior was definitely a challenge the McMasters faced and overcame during their remodel. Soon, they plan on bringing Carhartt into the 5,000 sq. ft. facility, along with some niche country-style items like candles, candies, and holiday décor.

The McMasters’ original store in Tannersville won Best Hardware Store in Town last year, reflecting their commitment to outstanding service. Their roots run deep, as Rich grew up working there before eventually taking over from the previous owners.

Reps from 3M and Husqvarna attended Steele’s opening ceremony, along with RC Craig Stiles, RM Paul Bernard, BDM Dan Spuhler, RPC Sam Johnson and team members from the Allentown RDC. Husqvarna enhanced the festivities with on-site chainsaw demos. Thanks to their RDC, the store was also able to offer giveaways and raffles including a turkey fryer, chicken coop, Weber Spirit grill and grill cart, compressor, propane tank, power washer, leaf blower and paint items.

Congratulations to the McMasters and the Steele’s True Value team!
