On May 4-5, Mike and Mark Mathis introduced the town of Rome, Georgia, to their first DTV store. Industry veterans for over 40 years, they were an un-branded Ace and wanted to build a new hardware store. They were so impressed with the DTV program that they switched over to True Value for this new groundup opening. The Mathises also had the added bonus of their returned equity money to put towards the 12,000 sq. ft. facility, which offers Husqvarna power equipment, Mammoth coolers, and a brand-new paint carousel color center.
Mark and Mike truly utilized True Value’s products and services to their advantage, spreading the word to the community via a fully customized marketing broadsheet and expanded POP kit. Their grand opening also featured a TV Rewards table, 25% off bucket sale, BOGO paint event, three grand prize giveaways, product demos by Husqvarna and Paslode, and a local artist specializing in chainsaw carvings. Ultimately, they were thrilled with the positive community response and fantastic weekend sales and recommend ensuring key vendor participation, as well as hosting various demos, giveaways and activities outside the store to attract customers.
Congratulations on a successful launch, Mike and Mark and the Mathis True Value team!
